Reports indicate that Dileep was married to a woman well before he met and married actress Manju Warrier. This information was seemingly unearthed during the police investigation into Dileep’s involvement in the abduction and assault of a Malayalam actress.
According to Abi, a close friend of Dileep, this relationship was common knowledge for Dileep’s close circle of friends and family. “I knew that he was married earlier to a girl that he was in love with. But, I don’t know whether they got divorced or separated later,” Abi said.
The woman was apparently Dileep’s relative and the two were married briefly at a time when he was still a stage artist. At that point, he was yet to have any major film roles. The woman is believed to be living in the UAE at present, and severed ties with Dileep after he began a romantic relationship with actress Manju Warrier in the early 1990s.

This marriage is believed to have been registered at a Registrar office in Desam, Aluva. The police reportedly suspect that the marriage was not legally terminated, and plan to question Dileep soon.
Following the breakdown of his first marriage, Dileep married Manju Warrier in 1998. She quit acting eventually.
At present, Dileep is married to actress Kavya Madhavan, who is also suspected to be involved in the abduction case.
Dileep is currently at the Aluva sub-jail. He was arrested on July 10.
