A day after filing a cruelty case against husband and Telugu film director Srinu Vaitla, Roopa Vytla has withdrawn the case . Srinu Vaitla, whose films include Dhee, Ready, Dubai Seenu and the recently released Bruce Lee: The Fighter, had been booked by the police after a complaint made by his wife Roopa on October 15. The case was filed in Hyderabad at the Banjara Hills police station under Section 498 A of the Indian Penal Code, which is applicable in cases of ‘husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty’. In her complaint, Roopa alleges that Srinu Vaitla had been harassing her for months.

Supreme Court guidelines laid down in July 2014 had ruled out ‘automatic arrests’ in cases of 498A, until the police were satisfied of the necessity of arrest, barring which there would be a danger to the life of the woman. Following counseling sessions organised by the police, Roopa intends to withdraw the complaint. She plans to approach the court in this regard shortly.
The couple have been married for 10 years, and have three daughters who have acted in films like Dookudu and Baadshah. Roopa has previously worked as a stylist for actress Samantha.
