It has become known by now that Sonam Kapoor’s Ek Lakdi Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga deals with lesbian romance. Yet, the latest trailer avoids stating it explicitly.
What it then does is to focus on the conflicts arising around the marriage of the protagonist and thus hint at the subject implicitly. Thus Rajkummar Rao has been allotted more screen time and is shown to be Kapoor’s prospective groom who later becomes her friend and confidante. Upon realizing that Kapoor would be marrying him as a sacrifice, he helps her break off the marriage in the process inviting the wrath of her folks.
Regina Cassandra who makes her Hindi debut is will be playing Sonam Kapoor’s love interest in the movie. She has a blink and miss part in the trailer. But the actress was featured more in the song Gudi Naal Ishq Mitha. The song had also depicted Sonam Kapoor’s indifference towards the advances of a love-smitten Akshay Oberoi,
However, the trailer has tried to juxtapose Sonam Kapoor’s plight with a stage play.
At a recent press meet, Sonam Kapoor had said, “It is a love story, it is also a story of a bond between a parent and child. In India, we go through a situation where we have to explain to our parents for our partners.”
