Director Gautham Vasudev Menon, who was rumoured to be a part of Dhruv Vikram’s debut movie Adithya Varma is not part of the project, its producer confirmed to Silverscreen. It had been reported that the director was set to play the role of the hero’s father in the film.
“Gautham Menon is not part of the project,” Mukesh R Mehta of E4Entertainment said. In.com had previously reported that Menon, who is directing Dhruv’s father Vikram in Dhruva Natchathiram would be joining the shoot of Adithya Varma soon.
Adithya Varma, an official remake of the Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy, was initially titled Varmaa and directed by National Award-winning director Bala. Following a fall-out with the filmmaker, the producers scrapped the movie and decided to reshoot the entire film. They roped in Girisayya, an associate of Sandeep Vanga, who had directed the original, to helm the new version.
“We at E4 Entertainment are not at all happy with the final version handed over to us and due to various creative and other differences, we have decided not to release this version. Instead, we will start afresh and shoot a new Tamil version of Arjun Reddy with Dhruv as the main lead, by staying true to the soul and intention of the original,” read the press release put out by the producers.

Only Dhruv and composer Rothan were retained. Bollywood actress Banita Sandhu and Priya Anand replaced the earlier stars Megha Chowdhury and Raiza Wilson. Ravi K Chandran has been signed on as the cinematographer. Incidentally, his son Santhana Krishnan is the cinematographer for the Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy titled Kabir Singh. The movie, directed by Sandeep Vanga, features Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani.
While Kabir Singh is slated to release on June 21, Adithya Varma is expected to release sometime in the same month.
