Filmmaker Alphonse Puthren’s upcoming film, Gold, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara in the lead roles, commenced filming on Wednesday, the makers announced on social media.
Gold is produced by Supriya Menon of Prithviraj Productions and Listin Stephen of Magic Frames. The film was launched with a formal ceremony attended by Prithviraj’s mother and veteran actor Mallika Sukumaran, actor SV Krishna Sankar, and other cast and crew members.
Earlier, actor Ajmal Amir, who was last seen in the Nayanthara-starrer Netrikann, revealed in a live session on Instagram that he will also be part of Gold.
Gold marks Prithviraj’s first collaboration with both Alphonse and Nayanthara.
In December 2020, Alphonse had announced that Nayanthara would play the female lead opposite Fahadh Faasil in his upcoming film Paattu. Apart from writing and directing, Alphonse was also set to don the hats of editor and music composer for the film produced by Zacharia Thomas and Alwin Antony of UGM Entertainments.
However, according to Pinkvilla, Paattu has been delayed to 2022 due to the pandemic and the actors’ prior commitments. The report also added that in the meantime, Alphonse had developed another story, which he pitched to Prithviraj. The duo reportedly had multiple discussions on this project and it now appears that Gold could be this new film.
Meanwhile, Prithviraj wrapped the shoot for his second directorial project Bro Daddy on Monday. Like his debut directorial Lucifer, Bro Daddy is also headlined by Mohanlal.
