In a departure from the film version of the book, a Brtish actress with roots in Swaziland and South Africa, Noma Dumezweni, will play Hermione’s role. Hermione was played by Emma Watson in the films.

While many fans questioned this casting choice, author JK Rowling tweeted that she ‘loved the idea’.
