Harry Potter & The Cursed Child: New Cast, First Look

The stage play will show a never-seen-before version of one of the most famous fictional characters. Potter has a low-profile existence in the play. A married man with three kids, he is employed at the Ministry of Magic. The story reportedly revolves around Albus Severus Potter (Sam Clemmett), the youngest of the Potter clan.

In a departure from the film version of the book, a Brtish actress with roots in Swaziland and South Africa, Noma Dumezweni, will play Hermione’s role. Hermione was played by Emma Watson in the films.

While many fans questioned this casting choice, author JK Rowling tweeted that she ‘loved the idea’.

Based on an original new story, the play is the eighth book in the JK Rowling’s Harry Potter saga. Adapted by playwright Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is directed by John Tiffany, and will open in London’s West End at the Palace Theater on July 30.
