Actor Jai recently said that actor Vijay advised him to take up hero roles instead of supporting roles, and so he chose to start acting as the lead in films. His new movie, Breaking News began shooting on Thursday.

Breaking News is a fantasy film with Jai as Jeevan, a superhero who tries to change the world into a paradise, said the makers. Directed by Andrew Pandian, the movie also starts actress Banu Sri Reddy, Mandira Bedi, Dev Gill, Radha Ravi and Isha Koppikar. It is bankrolled by Norway-based producer Thirukadal Udhayam.

According to an India Today report, Jai said that after Bhagavathi he was getting many supporting roles. He happened to meet actor Vijay who told him not to do supporting roles as he may get struck with that image. Taking his advice as key, he started concentrating on films with lead roles.

In Bhagavathi, Jai played the role of Vijay’s brother. Then he played an important role in Chennai 600028. He later acted in films like Engeyum Eppodhum, Saroja, Goa and Valiyavan.

Meanwhile, a pooja function for Breaking News happened recently. Speaking at the occasion, actress Banu Sri Reddy said, “I am very happy to be the part of this movie. This is my first Tamil movie and I have already done two Telugu movies. My role in this film is a little glamorous. I am not familiar with Tamil language and hopefully that will get better with this film.”

The actress also featured in popular reality show Bigg Boss 2 in Telugu.

Director Andrew Pandian spoke about the concept of the film. “This story is a superhero film. Jai plays the role of Jeevan. At one point, he faces a big disaster in his personal and professional life. There comes the turning point of his life. He is blessed with a miracle power and when he comes back, he changes the society in a better way.”

Jai, who was last seen in the film Jarugandi, is currently working on Party and Neeya 2. He is also acting in the Malayalam movie Madhura Raja along with Mammootty.
