A group of five people headed by actor S Ve Shekher filed a complaint against Vishal with the Commissioner of Police alleging financial malpractice. They alleged that Vishal spent Rs 8.75 crore from the fixed deposit of the Council without the approval of other members.  He also claimed that a huge sum of money has been given to Ilaiyaraaja to participate in the event.

This complaint follows close on the heels of the Madras High Court’s notice to the Tamil Film Producers’ Council seeking explanation on the financial irregularities as claimed in a petition filed by producer JSK Sathish Kumar.

Addressing the press, S Ve Shekher said, “It is not fair to cheat people within the industry. The reason we are here is because Vishal himself sent a letter to us saying he has spent the money. This is misappropriation of funds, which is  similar to stealing.”

When asked whether the complaint was only against Vishal, he said, “It is not particularly against Vishal, the complaint has been filed against the council itself, which means the president, secretary and treasurer all come under the list. We don’t have any personal enmity on Vishal.”

Yesterday, the Madras High Court heard the petition filed by producer JSK Satish Kumar, and ordered a notice to be sent to the TFPC, seeking explanation about alleged financial irregularities in the council. The case was heard by Justice K Kalyanasundaram, and has been adjourned to January 28.

Producer JSK Satish Kumar’s petition sought a stay on the Ilaiyaraaja 75 event alleging financial discrepancies within the council. He wanted to know where and how the council spent its deposit amount of Rs 7 crore, and demanded that they reimburse the amount before conducting the event.

Meanwhile, speaking at the inauguration of the Tamil Film Producers Council’s new office in Kodambakkam, Chennai, actor and TFPC president Vishal Krishna said that the Ilaiyaraaja 75 concert will happen without hurdles.
