JJ Fredrick will direct the Tamil remake of the hit 2018 Hindi thriller Andhadhun with actor Prashanth in the lead.
The film will be produced by producer and the actor’s father Thiagarajan. Sriram Raghavan, who directed the original, was approached before working on the script began, as reported by The Times of India.
The original film featured Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu, Radhika Apte, Anil Dhavan, Manav Vij and others. The story revolves around a pianist who pretends to be visually impaired and ends up witnessing a murder, entangling himself in a web of lies and ensuing problems.
While it was earlier reported that Mohan Raja, known for his film Thani Oruvan, would direct the film; he later opted out over unknown reasons, according to a report by India Today.
Fredrick made his directorial debut this year with crime-thriller Ponmagal Vandhal.
There are speculations that actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been approached by the makers. When India Today contacted the producer of the film, Thiagarajan said: “We are in talks with Aishwarya Rai. However, she is yet to sign the project.”
If Rai Bachchan agrees to the project, she will be sharing screen space with Prashanth after almost 22 years after their film Jeans in 1998, which was directed by Shankar.
