Kannada Actor Ravichandran To Play Krishna In ‘Kurukshetra’

There is much excitement in the Kannada film industry about Kurukshetra, a retelling of the Mahabharatha from the Kaurava point of view. No expense has been spared on this film, which boasts a multi-star cast from the likes of Ravichandran to actor Darshan.

Speaking to Silverscreen, Ravichandran said that he will soon begin training for the role of Krishna in the film.

He said, “I have shaved off my mustache for this role. It will be truly iconic, and all the actors have been asked to take on special training sessions and prepare for the film.”

Sneha will reportedly play Draupadi. Earlier, Nayanthara was reportedly in consideration for the role. Regina Cassandra will play Bhanumathi while actress Lakshmi will play Kunti.

Titled Kurukshetra, the film is told from the perspective of the Kaurava King Duryodhana. V Harikrishna is in charge of the music, Naganna is the director and Muniratna is the producer.

“We wanted to make a film to rival Baahubali. At present, sets are being created at Ramoji Rao film city. Following its completion, we will have a grand launch in which big stars from all four South Indian film industries will share the stage,” Muniratna told Silverscreen.

This is the second such production based on the Mahabharata to be launched recently. A project with Mohanlal in the lead was announced two months ago, produced by UAE-based BR Shetty.
