The heavily delayed film Sandakozhi 2 has finally signed a female lead – Keerthy Suresh. Lead actor Vishal confirmed that Keerthy had joined the cast and said, “We will be starting the project in February 2017”. The film was announced in early 2015, and was shelved after Vishal had a fallout with the film’s director Lingusamy.
Vishal, who is also producing the film had lodged a complaint against Lingusamy seeking settlement against the financial loss incurred during the pre-production of Sandakozhi 2. In his complaint, Vishal says that while he waited for the project to take off, Lingusamy began to work on other films. Consequently, Vishal lost money he spent during pre-production. Later in June, the actor tweeted that work on the film would resume, suggesting that the duo had amicably settled their differences.

Keerthy Suresh, who has signed big projects in both Tamil and Telugu, is arguably the busiest heroine in the two industries. The actress is starring in a number of major Tamil films, including Vijay’s Bairavaa and Suriya’s Thaana Serndha Koottam.
Directed by Lingusamy, Sandakozhi 2 is a sequel to Sandakozhi, a landmark film in both Lingusamy and Vishal’s career. Actress Meera Jasmine, who played the lead in the prequel, has a cameo appearance in the sequel. Actors Soori, Sathyaraj, and Rajkiran, along with music director D Imman and cinematographer Madhie are already on board the Sandakozhi 2 team.
