Mammootty To Team Up With Happy Weddings Director For A Comedy

Actor Mammootty has teamed up with young director Omar Lulu for a comedy entertainer set in Thrissur. “Discussions have been going on with the producers. We have finalised the story and a few members of the cast,” said Omar.

Omar’s directorial debut, Happy Weddings, a low-budget film which released in theatres in May, had turned out to be a sleeper hit at the box-office. The film, a comic caper, had a horde of young comedians playing the lead roles and no major star presence.

Mammootty will be playing the role of a middle-aged goon in the movie, said Omar. “One of the highlights of the film is that Mammootty will be speaking chaste Thrissur slang”, he said. Actors Sunny Wayne and Gregory will play supporting roles in this film.

Mammootty, whose flair for pulling off dialects is well-known, has handled Thrissur slang in movies like Pranchiyettan And The Saint.

Omar is the latest entrant to the list of young directors who have worked with Mammootty. The actor has starred in the directorial debut of directors like Aashiq Abu, Amal Neerad, Anwar Rasheed, Anoop Kannan and Martin Prakkat. Recently, Mammootty starred in Kasaba, the debut film of Nithin Ranji Panikker.
