The first-look poster of Pazhanjan Pranayam, the upcoming Malayalam film, starring Rony David and Vincy Aloushious in the lead, was released by the actors on social media on Friday.
The film is produced by Vaisakh Ravi and Stanely Joshua under the Ithihasa Movies banner with filmmaker Binu S serving as a creative contributor. Pazhanjan Pranayam is directed by debutant Bineesh Kalarikkal and written by Kiranlal M.
In conversation with Silverscreen India, screenwriter Kiranlal calls Pazhanjan Pranayam a “feel-good family film” and adds that it is inspired by a real-life story. “The film follows a 40-year-old-man (Rony) who has not married yet for various reasons. Veteran actor Pavithran plays Rony’s father and Vincy plays a 25-year-old woman who works as a domestic help at Rony’s house. Pazhanjan Pranayam explores how the two lead characters, who have a lot of differences, get close over a period leading to change in their perspectives.”
“I had Rony in my mind while writing that character,” the scenarist adds. “I had earlier worked with both Vincy and Pavithran, and I know their craft, so we got them on board as well.”
The film also features Azees Nedumangad and Kottayam Pradeep in supporting roles along with several actors from old Malayalam television serials.
Pazhanjan Pranayam marks the second independent writing project for Kiranlal after the 2018 romantic comedy film Kaimuki. He also co-wrote films like Dhamaka (2019) and Ithihasa 2.

Speaking about how the project took off, Kiranlal says, “A few years back, when I was working on a different film, I got an opportunity to share the idea of Pazhanjan Pranayam with filmmaker Binu S and he expressed interest in backing the film. Later, in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, we figured this was a convenient script to shoot as a small film. It took us around one month to lock the final script.”
He adds that the film was shot recently in parts of Perambavoor and Malayattoor village for around 23 days. It is currently in the post-production stage with the dubbing in progress.
Meanwhile, Rony, who was last seen in Kaanekkaane, has several upcoming projects such as Karnan Napoleon Bhagat Singh, Michael’s Cafe, and Santa Maria.
