The Abbas-Mustan franchise has undergone a dramatic change. The action packed franchise is now a family based film with high-octane stunts. Starring Salman Khan as Sikader, the highly awaited trailer of Race 3 was launched recently.
Salman Khan’s films don’t fall in a genre anymore. He is the genre and Race 3 looks like it will be a perfect fit in the same bracket.
The trailer features Salman posing with guns and of course, shooting every few seconds. Anil Kapoor’s character looks quite significant in the trailer and we can assume that the actor who has featured in all the films of the franchise will surely have a pivotal role in this one too. Daisy Shah and Jacqueline Fernandez who play the female leads are also shown performing high octane stunts in the film.
Saqib Saleem is also a part of the entourage and Bobby Deol makes his comeback in the big budget film. He is shown to play the antagonist to Salman’s Sikander. With cars colliding and Salman shooting bullets and talking about saving his family, it seems like Race meets Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo. Like the predecessors, this too has a lot of action and stunts, but what it lacks is the thrill and the Abbas-Mustan touch. Some of the dialogues are a bit cliched and caricaturish. Remo Dsouza who is directing the film has missed out on the key element of keeping the audiences enthralled and engaged. The lacklustre trailer can serve as a dampner to the movie which releases this Eid. With Salman in the lead, big opening is guaranteed, but it definitely raises a question as to how long the film can sustain, if the trailer was to be taken as a prelude to the actual film.
