Indian Express reports that the shoot was announced via a Twitter & Facebook video, in which Rani writes “Shoot Starts Today” on a school blackboard. The actress was last seen on screen in the 2014 film Mardaani. She’s since been maintaining a low profile, but took to Yash Raj Film’s official Facebook page to broadcast a video on her birthday. She said, “My next film is Hichki. I hope I will be able to perform well and make you guys happy. Please bless me with good wishes.”
The producers of the movie say Hichki is about a woman who turns her biggest weakness into her strength. Rani is said to have been impressed with the positive message of the film, and therefore decided to make a comeback with it.
Other cast and crew details haven’t been announced yet.
