A police case has been registered against director Ram Gopal Varma for sharing a photo of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu, suggesting that he had joined the YSR Congress Party.
According to NewsTrackLive, Devibabu Chowdary, a TDP activist, was quoted saying “I complained against Ram Gopal Varma in Tadepalli Gudem rural police station in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. I had already complained in Telangana. Reason for present complaint is that he morphed the photo of Chandrababu Naidu as if he is joining in YSRCP and posted it on social media. That is provocative.”
The photograph, in which Chandrababu Naidu was shown holding hands with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, was shared by the director on social media last week.

A police official said that they were planning to investigate the matter thoroughly. “He even allegedly made unwarranted comments on his family members. We will take appropriate legal action, we will investigate the photo morphing issue.”
Ram Gopal Varma has been the subject of multiple controversies ever since he announced his plans to release Lakshmi’s NTR – a biopic on former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao, in the run-up to the elections. The election commission had deferred the release of the movie, along with other movies like the Modi biopic Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He recently announced his next film, Tiger – a biopic on the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. During the title announcement, he passed a series of controversial remarks that said the Telangana people were meted third class treatment by the people of Andhra Pradesh, forcing KCR to revolt for a separate state.
It is a biopic of @KTRTRS ‘s father from the time he couldn’t bear the 3rd class treatment being given to Telangana people by the Andhras, and how he fought in a fiery way to achieve Telangana state. pic.twitter.com/VvUJV5LSXp

Later, he clarified his statements saying his film would not portray all the people of Andhra Pradesh as villains but only a handful of them, because of whose misdeeds, ill repute had befallen the entire population.
My film will not show Andhras as villains ..It’s only a few Andhrollu who did vennupotu to crores of Andhrollu by creating circumstances for separation #TIGERKCR https://t.co/A1eGxmQkFs
