Written and directed by Ranjith Shankar, Sunny, a suspense drama, will see Jayasurya play the role of a musician. The film will be the actor’s second outing with the streaming platform after the 2020 film Sufiyum Sujatayum alongside Aditi Rao Hydari.

The film “focuses on a single character named Sunny, who has lost everything that he earned in his life – his love, his money and his best friend. Shattered and hopeless, he smuggles himself back from Dubai to Kerala in the midst of a global pandemic and shuts himself from society. Deeply stuck in an emotional turmoil and while killing himself softly and slowly, Sunny befriends a couple of curious strangers over the course of seven days, who change his perspective.”, reads the synopsis of the film.

Speaking about his 100th film, the actor said in a statement, “This is my 100th film as an actor and I couldn’t be more humbled to play yet another striking character. I have had a prolific partnership with Ranjith throughout, and this one is truly special.”

Jayasurya and Ranjith Sankar have worked together on Punyalan Agarbattis, Punyalan Private Limited, Pretham, Pretham 2, Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam and Njan Marykutty.

Ranjith and Jayasurya have also produced Sunny under the Dreams N Beyond banner. The film went on floors in November and was shot in Kochi.
