Vijay Sethupathi will play the villain in Chiranjeevi’s nephew, Panja Vaisshnav Tej’s debut film, reports ToI. Directed by newcomer Buchi Babu Sana, the movie is set against the backdrop of sea and features Manisha Raj as the female lead.
According to CE, the director had approached both Vijay Sethupathi and Dr Rajashekhar for the part. “The director has approached both actors with the offer but is yet to get a nod from either of them. The makers are confident that one of them will accept the antagonist’s role. Currently, Buchi Babu is working on the final version of the script,” a source had previously said. Sethupathi’s participation has now been confirmed.
A DC report mentioned that the makers decided to offer the role to them to make the movie relatable to the viewer. “The filmmakers have not zeroed in on any particular star as of now, however, they are keen to cast a familiar face so that it elevates the film’s appeal,” said another source.
Vijay Sethupathi is set to make his Telugu debut with Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. The actor will reportedly play lead Chiranjeevi’s close aide in the film. According to a report, the Tamil actor will play Obayya, a trusted aide of freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy.
Actor-producer Ram Charan Teja had announced that the movie will release on Dasara this year. The cast of the movie also includes Kiccha Sudeep, Jagapathi Babu, Nayanthara, Pragya Jaiswal, Tamannaah Bhatia and Vijay Sethupathi.
Meanwhile, Buchi Babu Sana’s film is produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. The movie is reported to be a rustic love story and will see Panja Vaisshnav Tej in the role of a fisherman.
Devi Sri Prasad will be composing music for the film. The movie will go on floors by March. Buchi Babu Sana is a former associate of director Sukumar.
