Actor Vishnu Vishal, whose film Silukkuvarpatti Singam is set to hit the screens on December 21, claims that the Tamil Film Producers Council doesn’t serve justice to people who follow the council’s rule.
Vishnu, whose Ratsasan became a hit, is gearing up for his next comedy drama Silukkuvarupatti Singam which he produced himself. Recently the actor in a series of tweets expressed his dissatisfaction towards the producers’ council, as the council has decided not to regulate the number of releases for the Christmas and Pongal weekend. Expressing his upset, the actor said that this is due to the inner politics within the council and claimed that there is no justice to the people who follow the regulations.

Earlier Tamil Film Producers’ Council had some restrictions in place for the release of small and big budget movies. This was to ensure that the small budget movies get a chance to have a good run at the box office without having to face competition.
According to a report, in a meeting held recently, it was decided that films can hit the marquee during these holidays without adhering to the restrictions announced earlier. It is said that despite repeated attempts, the council couldn’t convince the majority of producers who are planning to release their films only on the two dates — 21 December and 10 January.

Earlier, controversy has sparked after actor Dhanush’s production company released an audio note explaining why Maari 2’s release date was announced before TFPC’s confirmation. It was said that the TFPC didn’t respond to them regarding the release of the film and thus they announced the release date of the film without the confirmation from the council.
On December 20, the Vijay Sethupathi starrer Seethakathi directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan of Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanom fame will be hitting the screens. The film is produced by Sudhan Sundaram, Umesh G, Jayaram and Arun Vaidyanathan under the banner Passion Studios.
While on December 21, films including the Dhanush starrer Maari 2 directed by Balaji Mohan, Arunraja Kamaraj’s debut Kanaa produced by Sivakarthikeyan and Vishnu Vishal’s Silukkuvarupatti Singam will lock horns. Whereas Ajith starrer Viswasam, Rajinikanth’s Petta and RJ Balaji’s LKG will compete for Pongal 2019.
