Directed by Hari, the film is a sequel to the 2003 hit Saamy.  It features Vikram in a dual role –  he reprises the role of Aarusaamy, a rigid police officer battling corruption from the original film and the second character will be a younger Vikram, who too is a police officer.Directed by Narayan Singh of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha fame, the film narrates the tale of a common man and his struggle to pay the exorbitant electricity bills slapped by a private power distribution company.  The film is set in a small town in Uttarakhand where people are so used to frequent power cuts that they constantly joke about it.

At a time when big-budget films seek a long weekend or a festival to release, to bank on the first weekend collections, Hari’s Vikram-starrer Saamy Square will release on September 21. The film, a sequel to the blockbuster cop film Saamy, has Bobby Simhaa essay the antagonist while Keerthy Suresh and Aishwarya Rajesh play the female leads.
Director Hari is not too worried about the timing of release, because he believes the movie has a ready audience that will watch the film. “Saamy was very popular all over Tamil Nadu. People wholly identified with the cop who’d go to any lengths to ensure justice prevailed. At a time like this, they will be even more excited to reconnect with Saamy and Bhuvana (Aishwarya Rajesh steps into Trisha Krishnan’s shoes for the sequel),” he says.

Two Biopics On J Jayalalithaa In The Pipeline

Director AL Vijay will soon helm a biopic on J Jayalalithaa, a spokesperson for the director announced earlier today. The film, which will trace the life of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, will go on floors on her birth anniversary – February 24 – next year. The first look poster too, will be released on that day.
