Vai Raja Vai is Fast-Paced: Aishwarya Dhanush

Aishwarya Dhanush has declared that unlike her debut film 3, Vai Raja Vai is a ‘face-paced entertainer’. In an interview to The New Indian Express, Aishwarya said that the film is not “intense and serious.” Adding that the movie will be new to Tamil cinema, she revealed that Dhanush and Rajinikanth know the story of Vai Raja Vai. Dhanush has also done a cameo in the flick.

Bharathiraja’s Next Titled OM

Bharathiraja will act and direct a new film titled OM – short for Old Man. The film follows a retired man who travels to the US and his relationship with a young Indian NRI woman. In an interview to Ananda Vikatan, Bharathiraja says,”I  bought this script over eight years ago. In the meantime, I did Bommalattam. Even though I did not act in the film, the Nana Patekar character had strong echoes of me.”

Masss Will Have Wacky Music, Says Yuvan

Masss will have a completely wacky soundtrack, according to its composer Yuvan Shankar Raja. Speaking to us, Yuvan said, “I know the title will mislead a lot of people into thinking the songs will be commercial, but the sounds that I’ve played with for this film will take the audience by surprise.” Yuvan has already begun composing and is all praise for the movie and its ‘fresh’ team. “Venkat Prabhu always brings in the perfect team for his story. This is definitely a movie to lookout for.”

Ilaiyaraaja and Dhanush For Vai Raja Vai

Ilaiyaraaja has rendered a song for Vai Raja Vai called Move Your Body. The track has been written by actor Dhanush and will have a very groovy tune, courtesy composer Yuvan Shankar Raja. The song was recorded recently and Aishwarya Dhanush is said to be very satisfied with the output. Madan Karky has written four songs for the film.

Vai Raja Vai Finishes Schedule in Goa

Aishwarya Dhanush’s Vai Raja Vai has just wrapped up its schedule in Goa. The team comprising actors Gautham Karthik and Vivek among others went to Goa for the shoot on May 31 where they canned some important sequences. A source close to the movie tells us that the film needed some exotic locales for certain scenes and they immediately zeroed in on locations in and around Goa. Around ninety percent of the movie is complete and the team is on the way back to Chennai.

Vai Raja Vai’s First Look on April 18!

The first look of Aishwarya Dhanush’s upcoming romantic comedy, Vai Raja Vai will be released on April 18.   The teaser is being actively promoted on social media. “Looking forward to April 18th – first look teaser of Vai Raja Vai coming up… fingers crossed n excited!” Aishwarya Dhanush had tweeted. Comedian Vivekh and music director Yuvan Shankar Raja were among the others who were seen promoting the release. Archana Kalpathi, the daughter of the film’s producer Kalpathi S Aghoram, tweeted, “Thenali Raman will carry teasers from Vai Raja Vai and Irumbu Kuthirai. Super excited.” Vadivelu’s Thenali Raman, also produced by Kalapathi S Aghoram, is releasing on the same day. The movie, which stars Gautham Karthik and Priya Anand in lead roles, has director Vasanth making his debut as an actor (he plays the role of Gautham’s father). Incidentally, Vai Raja Vai also marks the return of choreographer Gayathri Raguram after a decade long hiatus. She will don the role of Gautham’s sister.

Vishal’s Next Titled ‘Chakra’; Also Stars Regina Cassandra And Shraddha Srinath

Even as Vishal-Tamannah starrer Action hit the screens today, the title announcement of Vishal’s next was made. Titled Chakra, the film directed by MS Anandan, also stars Regina Cassandra, Shraddha Srinath and has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Director Gautam Vasudev Menon took to Twitter to launch the title. Vishal, reportedly, plays an army officer in the film.

Kalaimamani Awards Handed Out After Eight Years; Three New Awards Announced In J Jayalalithaa’s Name

Actress-dancer Vyjayanthimala Bali, actors Karthi, Sasikumar, Prabhu Deva, Prasanna and Vijay Sethupathi, and composer Yuvan Shankar Raja were among the 201 recipients of the Kalaimamani Awards, handed out by the Tamil Nadu government after a gap of eight years.
At a function in Chennai on Tuesday, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami handed over the awards for veterans in the arts for the years 2011-2018. The government also announced an increase in the weight of the gold medals, from three to five sovereigns, and said that as requested by artistes, the financial assistance given to elderly artistes will increase from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000.
Actor Nasser, president of the South Indian Artistes’ Association (SIAA), or Nadigar Sangam, released a statement thanking the Chief Minister and Kadambur Raja, Minister for Information and Publicity, and the chairman (composer Deva) and secretary (dancer Chitra Viswesaran) of the Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Manram, a unit of the Directorate of Art and Culture, which gives away the awards.
Among the awardees are dancer-actress Vyjayanthimala Bali, who received the Balasaraswathi Award for excellence in dance, actors Kutti Padmini (2011), Prasanna (2013), Pandiarajan (2013), Nalini (2013), Ponvannan (2014), Madhu Balaji (2015), Prabhu Deva (2015), Sasikumar (2016), MS Bhaskar (2016), Thambi Ramaiah (2016), Soori (2016), Vijay Sethupathi (2017), Priyamani (2017), Srikkanth (2018), Santhanam (2018), and music composers Vijay Antony (2015), Yuvan Shankar Raja (2017), directors Chithra-Lakshmanan (2011), lyricist Yugabharathi (2015), and cinematographer Rathinavelu (2015) for excellence in cinema.

Weekend Watch: Vishwaroopam 2, Pyaar Prema Kaadhal, Neeli

With the release of Yuvan Shankar Raja’s debut production, Pyaar Prema Kaadhal postponed by a day following the demise of DMK leader M Karunanidhi, the much-awaited film this week is Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2.The trailer of Vishwaroopam 2 – written, directed by, and starring Kamal Haasan – has glimpses of Viz (Wisam Ahmad Kashmiri) in his Kathak disguise, but largely consists of fast-paced action scenes.
