Doctor, the Tamil dark comedy film starring Sivakarthikeyan, released in theatres on Saturday and has emerged as a box office winner with a total collection of around Rs 24 crore in over three days in Tamil Nadu. With the positive response from the audience, several cinema halls in Tamil Nadu have added extra shows to screen Doctor.
On the other hand, with Kerala theatres reopening from October 25, a bunch of Malayalam films’ release dates have been announced. Actor Sarath Appani-starrer Mission-C will release on October 29 while actor Indrajith Sukumaran-starrer Aha, the sports drama film based on Vadamvali, will release in theatres on November 26. Suresh Gopi-starrer Kaaval is slated to release on November 25.
Likewise, after months of hiatus, Maharashtra is set to reopen its theatres and cinema halls from October 22 onwards and the state government, on Tuesday, issued a series of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the same.
Rashmi Rocket (October 15)- Zee5
The Taapsee Pannu-starrer Hindi film is a sports drama directed by Akarsh Khurana. According to the official synopsis, the film narrates the inspiring story of a small-town girl, who overcomes all societal barriers to become a national-level athlete, but her glory is hindered when she is asked to undergo a gender test.
Sardar Udham (October 16)- Amazon Prime Video
The Hindi biographical film is based on Udham Singh, the revolutionary freedom fighter who was known for assassinating Michael O Dwyer in London as revenge against the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar Punjab. Actor Vicky Kaushal will be playing the role of the freedom fighter and the film is directed by Shoojit Sircar.
Puppy Place (October 15)- Apple TV+
Based on Scholastic’s best-selling book series written by Ellen Miles, Puppy Place chronicles the adventures of dog-loving siblings, Charles and Lizzie Peterson, and the puppy pals they foster in search of forever homes. According to the streaming platform, the eight live-action episodes tell the story of a puppy who finds his or her way to the Peterson family.
Sanak (October 15)- DisneyPlus Hotstar
Sanak, the Vidyut Jamwal-starrer is a Hindi action-thriller film directed by Kanishk Varma. The film is said to be the remake of John Q (2002), the American drama thriller. The film follows Vivaan Ahuja (played by Vidyut) whose courage is tested when his wife gets trapped in a hostage situation in a hospital.
The Trip (October 15)- Netflix
The action thriller film follows husband and wife–Lars and Lisa— who are eager to end their marriage by murdering each other. The dysfunctional couple heads to a remote cabin to reconnect, but each has intentions to kill the other. Before they can carry out their plans, unexpected visitors arrive and they are faced with greater danger, according to IMDb. Actors Noomi Rapace, Aksel Hennie and Andre Eriksen play the lead roles in the film.
A World Without (October 14)- Netflix
The film follows three teenage girls named Salina, Ulfah and Tara who are in search of happiness. They decide to join a reclusive community that forbids dating, headed by a charismatic leader.
Jinne Jaame Saare Nikamme (October 14)- Zee5
The Punjabi language comedy-drama film revolves around Niranjan Singh and Satwant Kaur who crave a girl child after being neglected by their four sons. While the couple decides to have another baby, the sons devise their own plan.
