Finally Karan Johar seems to have confirmed the lead couple of his magnum opus, Shuddhi.

Initially, he had tried to rope in Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. But, reportedly, they backed out due to date issues. Later, it was heard that Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone will play lead roles in this romantic drama, which will be helmed by Karan Malhotra and produced by Dharma Productions.
Afterwards, it was almost confirmed that Salman Khan will play lead in this film.
However, now it has been announced that Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan will play a couple in Shuddhi. A happy Karan Johar himself tweeted out this news. This will be the couple’s third film together, after Student Of The Year and Humpty Dharma Ki Dulhania.
