Director Vijay marries actress Amala Paul next month. And the couple met the media ‘friends’ at an impromptu press meet in the city today. A visibly nervous Vijay took to the stage to convey his heartfelt thanks to everyone present. “My journey started seven years ago and all of you have been with me throughout. Always supportive and encouraging. That is why Amala and I decided to invite you first to our wedding!”
Dressed in a purple salwar, Amala Paul related the story of their relationship. “We started out as friends and I think we will always be friends first. We realised we were in love with each other only eight months ago. We told our parents at once and they agreed!”

The actress is not planning to quit work after marriage, she said. “But, I certainly won’t be a part of commercial movies anymore. I came into this industry because I was passionate about movies. Once I get married though, things will be different. I can’t have a full-fledged career like before because I want to focus on Vijay – the hero of my life from now!”
The wedding will take place in Chennai on June 12.
