The film, a thriller, is directed by Ajoy Varma. The cast includes Nasser, Nadiya Moithu, Suraj Venjarammood, Dileesh Pothan and Parvathy Nair. This is the first film of Mohanlal to release in theatres after he underwent a major cosmetic surgery for his epic magnum opus Odiyan. In Neerali, the actor plays Sunny George, a gemologist, married to Moithu’s character. A song from the film, sung by Mohanlal and Shreya Ghoshal, was released on YouTube last week to mixed reviews.
Neerali marks the Malayalam debut of Mumbai-based Ajoy Varma who has been working in Bollywood for several years as an editor. He has also directed two films – SRK and Dus Tola. Produced by Santhosh T Kurivila under the banner of Moonshot Entertainment, the film is co-produced by John Thomas and Mibu Jose. Songs are composed by Stephen Devassy and background music is by Ronnie Raphael. Santhosh Thundiyil has handled the camera. The film has been shot in Mumbai, Pune and parts of Sri Lanka.
