Kurup Review: Dulquer Salmaan Gets a Costume Party, Shine Tom Gets a Movie

Kurup, directed by Srinath Rajendran, whose debut directorial Second Show (2012) introduced Dulquer, the handsome son of superstar Mammootty, to the big movie world, is the dramatisation of the life of Sukumara Kurup, the infamous Malayali fugitive, who, in 1984, burned to death a young film representative, and faked his own death to evade the police.

Love to Release in Gulf Countries First

Malayalam film Love, starring Rajisha Vijayan and Shine Tom Chacko,  has been slated to release in theatres in the Gulf on October 15 with Covid-19 related safety measures in place. It will become the first Indian film to release in cinemas post lockdown, producer Ashiq Usman posted on social media, on Wednesday.

Actor Sobhita Dhulipala, who has to her credit acclaimed films and web series such as Raman Raghav 2.0, Amazon Prime’s Made In Heaven and Geetu Mohandas’ Moothon, is part of Kurup, a crime drama directed by Srinath Rajendran. Dulquer Salmaan plays the protagonist in the film, which is a period drama based on the real story of Sukumara Kurup, a fugitive who escaped from the police after burning to death a man named Chacko in 1984. The film’s cast includes Indrajith Sukumaran, Shine Tom Chacko and Krrish.
