Yash-Prashanth Neel’s ‘KGF Chapter 2’ To Resume Shoot On August 26

The team of the much-awaited Yash starrer KGF Chapter 2 will resume work on the film on August 26, after the long hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic. The makers have planned a 10-day schedule at the Kanteerava Studios in Bangalore and will complete the entire shoot of the film with that schedule barring the climax fight. Actors Prakash Raj and Malavika Avinash along with several others will be joining the team for the schedule.

Helmed by Prashanth Neel, the big-budget extravaganza is being bankrolled by Vijay Kiragandur for Hombale Films while being jointly presented by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar‘s Excel Entertainment and Anil Thadani’s AA Films in Hindi, and Sai Korrapati’s Vaaraahi Chalana Chitram in Telugu. The rest of the distributors haven’t been revealed as yet.

The film depicts the story of an ambitious Rocky (Yash), the lead character, who is born into poverty but wants to conquer the world and achieve greatness. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Srinidhi Shetty, Vasista Simha, Saran ShaktiAnanth Nag, Raveena Tandon, and several others in prominent roles.

Ravi Basrur is composing music for the film, Bhuvan Gowda is handling cinematography, art is Shivakumar, and stunt is by Anbariv.

Recently, the character poster of Sanjay Dutt was unveiled and received appreciation from all sides. The actor, who was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer a few weeks back, will shoot for the film post his treatment for which he is reportedly flying to the US.

KGF Chapter 2 was to complete filming this year and hit the screens on October 23. The coronavirus-imposed lockdown has caused a delay and postponed the movie’s release to next year. The movie will release in Kannada with a dubbed version in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam.

The previous installment, KGF, went on to become a film with the highest opening in the history of the Kannada film industry. With a total gross of over Rs. 250 crores in 50 days, it found itself in the eighth place among the highest grossers in South Indian cinema.  The movie even went on to win two National Awards – one for special effects and one for stunt choreography.
