Vijay Sethupathi Thrilled To Make Voice Acting Debut With Kattappava Kaanom

Actor Vijay Sethupathi is thrilled to make his voice-acting debut with Kattapava Kaanom. The actor will lend his voice for the character, Kattapa, a fish. He told Silverscreen that he was very excited to dub for an animated character. “Acting in front of the camera, is easy. Audience, for the most part, will look at the actor’s face, and not care about the rest. But here, I have to convey emotions through my voice alone, and that’s not going to be an easy task. It is a completely new area for me,” he said.
Sethupathi feels that the film – and his character in particular – will appeal to kids. “Kattapa is a mischievous character and has been written in a way that is very kid-friendly. Adults will like it too. My children are always watching such movies on TV. I am sure they will love this, as will all kids,” he said.
The Dharmadurai actor accepted the ‘small’ role when his “good friend” actor Sibiraj approached him. “I immediately said yes! To be a part of a friend’s film is such a great feeling,” he said.
Though actor Sathyaraj would have been an obvious choice, because of his iconic character named Kattapa in Baahubali, actor Sibiraj felt it would be ‘too clichéd’ to use his voice. “Since we wanted a peculiar voice, we went with Vijay Sethupathi. He immediately agreed to be a part of this film,” Sibiraj said.
Kattapava Kaanom is directed by debutant director Mani Seyon, a former associate of Eeram Arivazhagan. Actors Kaali Venkat, Mime Gopi, and Livingston play supporting roles in this comic fantasy. The music is composed by Santhosh Dhayanidhi. The film also has Baby Monica who is currently acting in actor Vijay’s 60th film.

Kattapava Kaanom is scheduled to release mid-September.
Meanwhile, actor Vijay Sethupathi has been cast for an extended cameo in the Dhanush’s Vada Chennai.
