‘Kaithi’, ‘Jersey’, ‘Trance’, And ‘Super 30’ Make It To The International Indian Toronto Film Festival, 2020

On Monday, the IIFFT (International Indian Film Festival Toronto) board announced the list of films that would be premiering at the 8th edition of their annual festival to be held virtually from Aug 9-15, 2020. The list of six films comprised an Indo-American short Padmavyuha and the recent popular Indian docu-film Batch of 2020 – Beyond Degrees & Certificates along with Karthi starrer Kaithi (Tamil), Nani starrer Jersey (Telugu), Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 (Hindi) and Fahad Faasil starrer Trance (Malayalam).

Team ‘Sudani From Nigeria’ To Boycott National Film Award Ceremony In Protest Against CAA

Zakariya and Muhsin Parari, the director and screenwriter respectively of Malayalam film Sudani From Nigeria, will boycott the national film award ceremony which will be held in Delhi on December 23. Sudani From Nigeria won the award for the best Malayalam film at the national Film awards. Their decision is in protest against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

Lucifer, Kumbalangi Nights, Jallikkattu: What To Watch Out For In 2019

This year, a number of major releases awaits the Malayalam film audience. Among the films lining up to hit the screens in the first two months are Nine-9, directed by Jenuse Mohammad and produced by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Haneef Adeni’s Mikhael where Nivin Pauly plays the lead role, and Arun Gopi’s Irupathiyonnam Noottandu which features Pranav Mohanlal. Director Jis Joy’s Vijay Superum Pournamiyum, a remake of the Telugu superhit Pellichoopulu, will hit the screens in the second week of January. The film, a romantic-comedy, has Aishwarya Lekshmi and Asif Ali playing the lead roles.

Directed by Hari, the film is a sequel to the 2003 hit Saamy.  It features Vikram in a dual role –  he reprises the role of Aarusaamy, a rigid police officer battling corruption from the original film and the second character will be a younger Vikram, who too is a police officer.Directed by Narayan Singh of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha fame, the film narrates the tale of a common man and his struggle to pay the exorbitant electricity bills slapped by a private power distribution company.  The film is set in a small town in Uttarakhand where people are so used to frequent power cuts that they constantly joke about it.
