Director Sundar C’s Aranmanai 2, starring Siddharth, Trisha and Hansika, will release on January 14, during the Pongal festival. The film is currently at the post-production stage. Producer Kushboo Sundar of Avni Cine Max has announced that the first song of the film, composed by Hip Hop Thamizha Adhi, will be released on Diwali. Aranmanai 2 is a sequel to the horror comedy, Aranmanai, which starred Vinay, Andrea, Raai Laxmi and the director, Sundar C.

Kamal Haasan’s third film, Thoongavanam, will also see a wide release in over a 100 locations across the USA on November 10.
Thoongavanam’s trailers promise a thrilling action entertainer, with Kamal Haasan playing a detective. The film is based on the French film, Sleepless Night and has a run time of 2 hours and 7 minutes.
Directed by Rajesh M Selva, Thoongaavanam has an ensemble cast of Kamal Haasan, Trisha, Prakash Raj, Madhu Shalini, Yugi Sethu, Kishore, and Sampath. The technical team includes cinematographer Sanu Varghese and editor Vijay Shankar.

GV Prakash, who played the male lead in Trisha Illana Nayanthara, is in talks to play the lead in the Tamil remake of the Telugu comedy, Bhale Bhale Magadivoy. The film revolves around the life of a youngster who undergoes acute memory loss. Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, starring Nani and Lavanya Tripathi, was made on a budget on Rs.10 crores and has grossed approximately Rs.55 crores worldwide in its 50 day run at the box office.
Filmmaker Jyothi Krishna, son of producer AM Rathnam, returns to filmmaking after a decade-long hiatus with a project featuring actor Gopichand. According to a source, Gopichand was impressed with a single line from the script, and wanted Jyothi to complete work on it. The film will reportedly bring out Gopichand’s hitherto untapped talent as a comic hero. The film is scheduled to go on floors next year, with the script work almost complete. Jyothi’s last Telugu directorial was in 2003 with Nee Manasu Naaku Telusu. The film starred Tarun, Trisha and Shriya.

After a quirky role in Adhik Ravichandran’s Trisha Illana Nayanthara, actress Simran will star in debutant director Gowri Shankar’s upcoming film as a police officer, according to a Times Of India report. The film will be produced by her husband Deepak under their banner Simran & Sons. The movie is likely to be made along the lines of Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee’s Mardaani. Shooting for the film is scheduled to begin in November. The team is currently scouting for a suitable villain. The role is not new to Simran, who had previously acted as a police officer in the trilingual film Karaioram, which has been in production for a while.

Telugu actress Kriti Kharbanda will play the female lead opposite music director turned actor GV Prakash in Bruce Lee. Aranmanai 2, directed by Sundar C, has entered the Limca Book of Records, for having the biggest ever statue erected for a film. Actor Kamal Haasan, who is the Chairman of the Media and Entertainment Skills Council of FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry), will be organising a three-day film workshop for over 10,000 people in November. The venue of the workshop is yet to be finalised. Haasan plans to bring together 25 different film unions together for the film workshop.
The release of debutant director Srinath Ramalingam’s horror film Unakkenna Venum Sollu has been postponed to September 25. The film was originally scheduled to release on September 17 along with Vijay’s Puli. However, after Puli’s release was postponed, Trisha Illana Nayanthara, Maya, and 49-O booked the September 17 date. Among the upcoming releases, Maya starring Aari and Nayanthara is also a horror film and it is likely that the makers of Unakkenna Venum Sollu wanted to avoid competition with a film from the same genre.

Director Ponram’s upcoming film Rajini Murugan has been awarded a U certificate by the censor board. The movie was supposed to release in July along with Dhanush’s Maari, but was postponed due to several technical glitches. Now, Rajini Murugan is all set to release on September 17.
To commemorate International Charity Day on September 5, actors Suriya, Jyothika, Trisha, Jayam Ravi and his wife Aarthi, Dulquer Salmaan, Vikram Prabhu, Sriya Reddy, director Soundarya Rajinikanth and her husband Ashwin, and Chess Grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand decided to donate several items to support the campaign. September 5 was adopted as the International Charity Day by a UN resolution in 2012 because it is the day of the passing of Nobel peace prize winner Mother Theresa.
