SIIMA 2017: Kirik Party Wins Big; Ranbir And Katrina Pay A Visit

The sixth edition of the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA 2017) took place in Abu Dhabi on June 30 and July 1, amid much fanfare. Designer gowns, sharp three-piece suits and lots of hair gel aside, SIIMA had some noteworthy performances, too. 
Day 1:
Honouring artistes and films from the Kannada and Telugu film industries, Day 1 had stars such as Shivaraj Kumar, SP Balasubrahmanyam, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Khushbu Sundar, Ambika, Saritha, Lakshmi Manchu, Mohan Babu, Rana Daggubati, Shriya Saran, Regina Cassandra, Allu Sirish, Shraddha Srinath, Rakul Preet Singh and Nikki Galrani in attendance.

Kabir Khan said the role was such that a superstar had to play it, “It was a role screaming for a superstar cameo otherwise I wouldn’t have. What Ails The ‘Queen’ Remake?

According to a press release received yesterday, Golden Crab, one of the producers of the remakes, plans to publish an injunction against Mediente today, the other production company that claims to hold the rights to the remakes.While, Mediente, the production company currently bankrolling Ramesh Arvind’s Kannada remake of Queen, starring Parul Yadav, has asserted that the rights belong to Mediente and Liger Productions.

Amala Paul Jokes, “Sad I Missed My Video On #SuchiLeaks!”

Amala Paul, who was targeted by the infamous #SuchiLeaks earlier this year, reportedly joked about not being able to see her video. Speaking to the Times of India, the actress said that she was “sad” at not being able to see the video
Rumours of Amala and Dhanush having an affair had been doing the rounds as well. However, Amala told the Times of India that she does not let things like that affect her, as otherwise she wouldn’t be able to move on in life. She added that even her ex-husband, director AL Vijay, was good friends with Dhanush.
#SuchiLeaks became a trending hashtag in South India in the last week of February this year, when popular RJ/singer Suchi (Suchitra Karthik) alleged that she had been manhandled by actor Dhanush’s security team. While claiming that her account had been hacked, a few days late, photos of actors and actresses in a compromising position were posted in her account. Some of the victims of the leak were Dhanush, Anirudh Ravichander, Sanchita Shetty, Andrea Jeremiah, Trisha, Hansika Motwani, and several others.
Amala will be seen acting alongside Dhanush in Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Velailla Pattathari 2 (VIP 2). She also has a few other Tamil films in the pipeline, including Minmini, Thiruttu Payale 2, and Bhaskar The Rascal. Additionally, she is working on an untitled Malayalam adventure film with Vinodh K and, according to reports, a Telugu film with director Puri Jagannadh.

The campaign wants Twitter to delete accounts of those people who threaten such “dire consequences” online, and try to teach women “a lesson” – all for speaking their mind. Chinmayi is frequently threatened because of her outspoken views.

Ajith Kumar’s cop-thriller Yennai Arindhaal, dubbed in Kannada as Sathyadev IPS, could not open in Bengaluru yesterday after protests broke out at theaters. While the exact reason behind the protests is unclear, it is being attributed to the simmering resentment among the Kannada speaking people in Karnataka over the success of non-Kannada films (dubbed Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi films) compared to Kannada films. While the dubbed film is running elsewhere in Karnataka, its release in Bengaluru has been indefinitely stalled.
